Question of the day: What is cosplay to you?

Penny for your thoughts? Please share your experience, the ups and downs of what Cosplay means or has done in your life. I personally think it has saved me a lot. Not that I needed saving. But it brings the part of you who always wanted that fictional world to come to life.  There is more to cosplay than simply dressing up. I’d love to hear them from you!

  1. Cosplaying turned my otaku life to it’s peak. Watched several more animes to know the characters people are cosplaying. Played a bit more games still for the same purpose. And at the end of the day still researching for cool characters to cosplay. But don’t get me wrong here, much as I love cosplaying I still understand that it’s a hobby so as much as I can, I try to accomplish things that I really need…like finding a job. X_x

  2. It opened a whole new world of experiences and skills for me. I never knew that I could sew and let alone, create weapons :D Aside from those, well, there’s always a down side to everything. Cosplay burned my wallet :( (haha although, I learned about the value of money, how and where to spend it on). No matter how much I try to stop, cosplay keeps on dragging me back in. It does get in the way of my studies sometimes :p

  3. A creative medium.

I’m a frustrated model/stylist. So being in this “cosplaying world’ gave me the freedom to be who I am and even Who I am not. And also the spotlight lol

Being my favorite character for a day gives me that feeling of oneness with that character, even though he/she’s fictional. I get to copy him/her appearance and personality.

If I’m not cosplaying a certain character. I do Originals (Jfashion, conceptual characters) which is a little more exciting to me since I get to ‘style’ myself.
