CosFeature #20: Burikiboy

I started out as a con-goer back in 2008. It mattered so much to me how accurate and realistic one person can go to look exactly like the character they are cosplaying. So I’d like to take this opportunity to feature some of my favorite Cosplayers, whom I’ve had such honor in meeting and befriending along the way.. -katz

CosFeature n#20: Lyron Aquino.. a.k.a. Burikiboy

K- Since my first time cosplaying, his name was already well-known. So for my next feature, I give you one of the best props-maker I know! *glomp* Let us start from the beginning, shall we? What would you like to be called?

LA- Lyron is okay

K- *bows* Your interest in cosplay, how and when did it start?

LA- It started when I was in high school. When the AXN anime explotion convention happend, though I wasnt able to join the event, i still did promised myself that one day i’ll be joining the cons and their cosplays. Then 2005, the grand Hero channel launch was my very first con.. and my very first cosplay.

  Stalker – Ragnarok Online

K- Tell me, did you make your first costume back then? Or you had it tailored?

LA-  No, unfortunately i still dont have the skills to make my own costume that time so i just improvised.

Kamen Rider Knight

Azure Balmung – .hack// series

K- And improvised you surely did! O.o Awesome workmanship! *gaps in awe* Do you prefer solo or group cosplays?

LA-  Either is fun. With solo, i get to go around, meet up with friends and new people. With group, i get to bond and have fun with them ^-^

Kazu  -Airgear

K- How much has cosplay taught you? Pros and Cons?

LA-  It thought me how to become creative. it helped me build up my self confidence. And earn more friends. Down side, is pretty common, some personal issue and stuff…

Luffy – One Piece

K- At least, your props-making experience sure paid off. :D Have you cosplayed abroad as well? If yes, how can you compare it locally? If not, what could you have wished for?

LA-  yeah, one time in singapore when we represented our country for the asia cosplay meet competition, it sure was fun and made friends wth fellow cosplayers abroad. as to compare it localy, i say there’s just a bit diff. and thats the people…

Edge Maverick – Star Ocean: Last Hope

Together with Riyo Lendl Enriquez (left) as Sol Badguy from the Guilty Gear game series, Lyron Aquino (center) as Edge Maverick from Star Ocean and Jia Gold Bustamante (right) as KOS-MOS from Xenosaga.

They represented our country last COSFEST 2010 event, dubbed as Asia Cosplay Meet – Let’s Make Friends in Singapore.

K- We are so proud of them! *hugs* Cosplay aside, what do you do outside the hobby/community?

LA-  I accept jobs/commisions/orders for props and costumes. It has become my small business.

Gunzi – Togainu no Chi

K- Yes I have personally ordered from him for my Bubblegum Crisis cosplay, as well. Thanks again for that! *hugs* Based on your experience, how’s about a message to aspiring cosplayers out there?

LA-  Just give it your best! Think wisely on choosing your characters! and make sure to have fun!

K- Now, please tell me something about yourself that no one knows. Like, what makes you YOU?

LA-  uhhh im not really sure about that… I guess im just too straight forward to people?… coz sometimes they think im a snob, but frankly, i just really dont talk much to people I dont know. x.x

K- Bah! I don’t think your a snob, you’re such a darling if they only get to know you better. Many thanks for letting me feature you Ly! I hope your business flourishes to the next level of awesomeness!

WHERE YOU’LL FIND HIM: DeviantART, Facebook

Till next feature~! *mhew*
